Check Engine Light

Recommended Posts

I have a 1996 Lexus ES 300 with 178,000 miles on it. I have replaced the 02 sensors and still I can't get the check engine light to go out. I have disconnected the battery to start anew and after 80.5 miles, the light comes back on. The problem is, I cannot get an inspection sticker with the check engine light on. Can anyone tell me how long (in driving time) it will take the computer to reset so that the check engine light goes out.

Do I read you correct that when disconnecting the battery, the CEL disappears, but re-appeares after 80.5 mls?

If so, the CEL can't be solved by resetting the ECU, as it still detects a faultcode.

What code did you originally get and what code does it read now?

It seems GJ beat me to it :)
