Dealer says that we have to buy entire window glass get the trim...$220.00 plus installation! Anyone run into similiar problem and come up w/ better solution or source? Many thanks, Jim G

Many thanks, Jim G yes, I am also a victim of the same. Luckily for me one day it started rattling. So I stopped and took it completely off. I now need to glue it back. You can check with auto wreckers in your area. They have come on handy in the past. Deepak

Many thanks, Jim G Yes it happened to our 2004 RX330 aswell. I agree that the dealer will not sell the part separately. I have been searching for the part even on web provided by CDULUK but could not locate it...

I got the same bad news from the dealer that others have gotten, and like them I am not very happy that Lexus sells a complete window when just a price of trim is needed. I decided to bring this to the dealership management and requested they contact Lexus on my behalf. While I may be the only one who thinks like this, I do not think a piece of trim should just fall off and have no way of being replaced (just the trim). I asked him to ask for a good will repair since it will not be likely to find the piece I need in a breakage yard. The thundercloud edition was the one they built in japan and there were not a large number of them. Edited September 16, 2010 by swanscn

Hate to see my RX with anything missing; just looks tacky. Have any of you tried the local Pick-a-Part for this piece? If so, any pricing you got? Also, how about adhesive ideas to save the other side that hasn't went missing? Love my Lexus! :P UPDATE (Jan 24, 2011): Called a few dealers here in Orange County, CA... best solution & price they could offer was $180 for part + $180 labor = $360 (@ Tustin Lexus). I am passing along the National Lexus phone # here: 800-25-LEXUS (800-255-3987), call them then press, "2" for general inquiries, then wait for customer service person, explain your situation, they'll ask & need VIN #, mileage, dealership you checked pricing with to document your case. The folks at Lexus National said there isn't a trim replacement option, only a window replacement (blame the original engineers). Lexus will assign a specialist to look into what they can do with your local dealer. The more they hear from us, the more they might do something better - using "squeeky wheel theory" here folks - let 'em hear your voices! BTW, part # for LH is: 62720-48230, RH is 62710-48170 (these are for the color dark gray) Best of luck my Lexus brothers & sisters!

I just noticed it missing one day after a short trip. Lexus should have a recall campaign since it seems to be happening often.

They spoke to my local dealer and are offering a "one time courtesy" and picking up the entire cost of fixing this issue! (Now before the naysayers start up with the "well, they outta" and "serves them right" talk - listen, sh...tuff happens, tires go flat, birds !Removed! on your freshly-washed ride, and trim pieces.. well, vanish? This RX is 6 years old now and they're covering a non-warranteed repair - damn, freakin' impressive!) So - you can work the system if you just try - no guarantees and "Windshield City" was right - they might and DID step up to please a current & future customer! Just in case, Tustin Lexus was the dealer that took care of it all. Ask for the Service Manager and work it from there. Good luck!
zonardave Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Well, here it is many years later and the problem persists - as does the lack of a solution. I and my 2007 RX400h just joined the club - left side trim missing. I wonder what the total count of trim pieces litering the highway is?
