Tori Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 My 1992 Lexus LS400 clicks sometimes when starting; the speedometer lights dim/darken; the console lights go out completely and when I turn a corner, the speaker sounds go from one side of the car to the other!!! Is this possible an electrical problem or an alternator problem? Please advise - Thank you!!!
VBdenny Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 The things you describe usually indicate a battery or a battery terminal connection problem. If you battery is more than 4 years old, replace it. While you are at it, clean the terminals well.
steve2006 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 As above and also check all the earth connections to the body if there is any doubt remove the bolt clean the contact areas and refit. There is a common problem with the starter motor just clicking and this requires either a rebuild of the starter motor with new copper contacts/plunger or a recon unit fitting ( not an easy job as the starter motor in under the intake manifold!) Go for the battery/wiring 1st.
