Dmitriy213 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Hi, Everyone! I bought my GX in January I would like to share with you my impression about my GX 460 Premium. Well, I really impressed! But.. 1.Rear trunk area with 3rd row seats folded might be a little bit larger. Plastic panels easily can be scratched by about everything. They made of really soft plastic. Carpet upholstery on the sides would really help. 2.Be careful when exiting/entering vehicle. Doors’ plastic panels, also plastic under glove box, and where pedals are, very soft as well. Scratches appear even because of slight touch of tennis shoes, leather bag zipper, etc. I moved front passenger seat max rearwards and warned my wife. 3.Keep your windows closed. Especially rear ones. I have driven for some time with open windows and noticed black dirty spots on both sides, and they are on very light headliner. The places where spots are: near seat belt, and above the rear window on both sides. May be, it’s my bad luck. 4.And eventually, I installed Michelin Latitude Tour HP. Very satisfied!!! It’s the only tire available with Michelin for 265/60-18 and speed rating H. Michelin assured me, and I hope that it will be adequate for High Sierra area (California). With these tires truck runs like , I mean close to sedan. It also produces not much noise then sedan. That is all, for now.

What do you think about the comfort - or lack of it - in the second row seats? I was very disappointed that Lexus made them flat, with very little cushioning. Then when you combine that with the fact that they're now 40-20-40 rather than the 60 - 40 in the GX470 design - they're extremely uncomfortable. And now they no longer fold down and flip up - you can only fold the back down and then they don't even lay flat, they're at an angle. I think that's why they reduced the amount of cushioning - so that they could fold. I was going to trade my '07 in on a new model but I'm really reconsidering. There are several negatives that I have to ponder - the cargo area has been significantly diminished, the floor of the cargo area is much higher due to the mechanics of the power folding third seat, they still have the rear door hinged on the wrong side, there's a lot more plastic in the interior, the front headlights are quite odd and the worst of all - it looks like a giant Highlander! And now my dealer tells me that they're not making the side doors with the extra molding detail like it shows on the Premium model. At least that molding strip added a little design to the vehicle. So I'm know looking into other brands - the Porsche Cayenne (new models due in July) or the X5.

The third row is completely flat when folded. But overall, the comfort on second row is acceptable for SUV. Of course, it's not so soft as in sedan. I drew X5 and Toareg (which is Cayenne's brother I beleive). GX's air suspension is much more comfortable. Bumps and potholes are felt much harder in X5. Thanks to KDSS, car is very stable when cornering. In CA mountains I feel even much secure than in my previous Camry. There is no ideal design to satisfy everyone. There are plenty of choices on market. Some of them fit better than GX, but I forgo some attractions of different brands for Toyota, because I have been always with Toyota and it's been always good, soft, comfortable, reliable.
