Magillink Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 My sister has a 95 SC400 had transmission slippage problem. She took it to the Riverside CA Lexus dealer. It has been there a week. They told her they can't fix it. She should maybe do a cash for clunkers and maybe get $4500 for it. Aside from the fact that "Cash for Clunkers" is long gone. Are they that stupid? What is up with a transmission problem a dealer can't fix. Did Lexus run out of qualified transmission mechanics? Anyway I am searching for an alternative. Like a recommended transmission repair place in the area. Or any other helpful information.
lexfourcam Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Take it to a qualified shop and get the tranny flushed and see if that helps it any. Make sure you use the proper fluid b/c if you don't you can damage the tranny. Is there a check engine light on? How many miles are on this car?

Thanks The car has about 185K miles and I don't think the check engine light was on.
rekit Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 My 93 went out, it was the $30 filter. 135,000 miles.
lexfourcam Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Well i'd recommend getting the tranny flushed and definitely changing the filter and go from there. It's the most inexpensive thing to do first.
