Need to remove my 95 LS400 radio to replace the backlighting and need step by step instructions. This is the best I could find but doesn't really help.

The procedure for removing the radio headunit in a 95-00 LS400 is essentially the same as described in the thread you found for a 90-94 LS400 except that in a 95-00 LS400, the ashtray and console wood is removed as a single unit.

The instructions at the following link say they are for a 98-99 LS400 but the procedure is the same for a 95-97 LS400 and a 2000 LS400: http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/Adobe/LX-52-98-p1.pdf

Be gentle when prying up the wood in your 95 -- thinner and easier to crack than in the earlier LS400. You will have to unplug the connectors from thr TRAC switch and heated seat switch (if you have heated seats) after you pry up the console wood so you can set the console/ashtray assembly aside.

Also be when careful prying out the center vents which can become brittle with age. As long as you don't break the parts, the center vent assembly can be reassembled if it falls apart like it usually does (into lots of pieces) when I remove the center vent in my 00 LS400. Just keep track of the vent parts if they fall apart.

Edit: I should have mentioned that there will be one or more connectors on the air vent assembly that will have to be disconnected as the air vent assembly is pulled out of the dashboard.

Thanks for the advice and the link. Seems to be pretty straight forward just take your time so you don't break anything.
