malikqais Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Hi, This is a great forum and I got a lot of replies from you guys. I really thank all of you for keeping us dummies informed. This time I have issue wiyh my audio system which is pioneer not nakamichi. Problem is that there is power in head unit but no sound I can switch between Radio and cassette only, but CD button not reponding cartridge also not coming out. Like CD player is dead. But if that is the issue why there is no error coming and also why cassette and radio not working already checked amplifier under the seat all seems ok. Is there any switching relay between head unit and CD Changer Please help.
malikqais Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Come on guys some body should know it are there any Fuses or switching relays.
steve2006 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Radio Fuse #1(20A) and Radio Fuse #2(15A) are common to the cd changer and the amplifier. #1 is located in the engine bay fusebox and #2 in the drivers side lower dash fuse panel. If blown only replace with the same rating fuses if they blow again you have a defect.
malikqais Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 Thanks Steve, I really appreciate that but friend all the fuses are ok, I checked both I don't know what's going on Head Unit have power but CD changer is not responding and No sound No hiss nothing at all. You Have any other Idea Please. Can Tune Radio Cassette also ok But no audio.
lexfourcam Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 sounds to me like the head unit is bad. i highly doubt that the amplifier blew, or the speakers.
steve2006 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Do you have a factory fitted mobile phone installation as this can cause problem if faulty as it mutes the sound from the stereo.
malikqais Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 Thanks Steve and Lexfourcam, No It doesn't have any factory fitted mobile phone. and it happened before 2 months and after 2 days it started working again but this time it's prolonged and not working any more.
malikqais Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Ok I just founf out that there is no power in amp under the seat and also in CD player but head unit have power so what should I check and How fuses all are ok under the hood and on driver's side what next?
steve2006 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Hi, To find faults to this degree you really need the wiring diagram for the car ( a cd rom copy on Ebay is fairly cheap). You need to check for 12 volts on the amplifier 1st check is at connector G12 which has a grey wire and should have 12 volts present with the ignition key in the ACC position and also check connector F4 on the amplifier (Blue/yellow wire) which should have 12 volts present at all times. If you have nothing on one of these there will be a break in the wiring or a connector between the fuses which you have already checked and the ampifier/cd player. Have you tried moving the connectors/leads to the amplifier with the system on to see if there is an intermittant connection under the seat?
malikqais Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Thanks Steve, Guess what it worked in the morning for two hours and then stopped working again same playing dead. And I checked under the seat there was no power in any of the leads I checked by putting my negative to the body and positive to all connectors no had any power. Also I tried by moving the connectors nothing. :( Where this power comes from in the amp since I am in UAE I cannot buy anything from Ebay. Can any body give me audio setup diagram? What else I should do.
malikqais Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 So for last 5 days it's working fine like nothing happened.
