Bob in T.O.
Clock always resets to 1:00am when engine restarted and info section resets to MPG. Battery terminals were cleaned and engine always starts fine.
Filehorse
I just went through the exact same scenario. Turns out it was a failing battery. I had a dead cell and when you hit the starter, there was enough power to start the engine but it sagged the voltage so low it caused the clock and MPG Info to reset. I'm betting you have a problem with the battery since you said you have cleaned the terminals. Have it tested at most any auto parts store. Battery terminals were cleaned and engine always starts fine. I had had the same issue. "Lenore" of this forum convinced me that the battery needed changing, which I doubted since it started the car easily. But he was right. The "1:00 am" re-setting is a sign you need a new battery. Good luck!
