x1chosenone1x
I was wondering if the LS 400's engine a non-inteference engine? If the timing belt is damaged or not working, will the pistons damage or bend the valve?
99lsguy
There has been extensive research on the subject....... Look at older threads. Your 90-94 LS IS A NON-INTERFERENCE ENGINE.
obergc
A lot of controversy and conflicting information out there on that subject. I think the best information comes from a member who stated that he broke a timing belt due to a frozen water pump as I recall and he stated that his engine suffered no damage as a result. x1chosenone1x
To replace the water pump, do I need to remove the inlet pump that goes in the engine
gaknut
I be a member who had pump seize up. Your engine is definitely non-interference. (I checked when mine was apart - 92ls). Inlet pipe must be removed and 0-ring replaced. (Quite easy really just be sure to lube o-ring with antifreeze or suitable alternative when installing)
