Will Toyota /lexus 8.1 Nav Disc - Always On Ebay- Work?

On the GEn 5 Nav , will any update for lexus/toyota work, there seem to be a lot on ebay and less than the 250 the dealer charges

No not any, you'll need the gen 5, 8.1 map dvd. But, you might want to wait a few months and get the 9.1 dvd, it should come out in Sept/Oct.

And, on ebay - be careful. You may end up with a copy which may or may not work properly. Always email the seller and be sure you are getting the original disk.

does the disc have to stay in the Nav unit ?? and where is it on my 2007, there is a vague picture in the manual but it is confusing.

Yes it stays in all the time. It located in a dvd player in the back right hand side trunk. There is a small access door on the right under the mat and door that hides the tools.

well that explains why they are not out there to buy, I thought it was a software download. So when the 9.1 comes out someone will sell me there 8.1 :D :rolleyes: (hint/hint)
