About To By A Is250

Hello all, new user here who is looking to buy a lexus is250.

Where I live in sweden there is only 1 for sale with the red color, which in my opinion is the nicest color of them all.

It is fully equipped with nav+mark levinson+camera, skinseats and so on. New price for this one with this equipment at 2006 was 48000 USD at todays rate.

The problem with this car is that it has been driven around 60.000 miles (95000km).

It is from 2006 and only had 1 owner. This one costs 28000USD.

The seller is a lexus dealership, previous owner was a company who had leased the car, and all service has been made.

The same car with silver color but 15000miles only costs around ~34000 USD.

Is 6000USD pricedrop normal for a car with 45000 miles extra on? I consider it low.. and was looking for maybe 10000USD pricedrop so the car should cost ~24000 USD for me to be happy, considering that the silver with 15000 miles costs only 34k. How much do you think I can sell it for later on.. say 3 years from now and 35000 miles later, (a lexus is250 at year 2012 with 2 owners that has been driven 100.000 miles).

Next question is, is lexus known for having cars that can run long miles with no major problem?

What about the big costs for a new car like that, such as suspension or any other expensive repairs?

Today im driving a Toyota Corolla (always been a toyotafan) from 1992 with 100.000 miles, and havent given me any problem at all actually. Service costs for around 1000 USD for the last 3 years. As you see, I am the economic type of guy :), which doesnt mean I cant afford a new car, its just that I dont like paying for things that will give me an headache and need service all the time. I prefer paying a bit more and have a car that i can relay on 95%.

So to sum it up, is a lexus is250 fully equipped from 2006 and 60000 miles a good buy? Or should I consider one with lower milage?

I am unsure if you are aware that Lexus is a Toyota product. As you know, 60k miles on a Toyota/Lexus is very low. I do not foresee any problems with the car if you decide to buy it. If I may though suggest you might like the IS350 better. It's a beast!! But because you are the economic type of guy the 250 should be great for you. I'm unsure of what the value of the car will be when you sell it later but it most likely will be higher than others. And if you don't want to spend a ton of money on maintenance you can bring it to a Toyota dealership for repairs or maintenance.

Welcome to LOC. The IS is a great buy, Lexus is known for it's reliability so 60,000 miles is next to nothing.

Just because Toyota's a reliable car, doesn't mean that a 3 year old car with 60K miles is "next to nothing". That's a lot of miles. Should you be scared to buy a Toyota product with 60K miles on it? Probably not. I think the key question is "Is it a good buy?" If you think that the seller has sufficiently discounted the car to take into account the high miles, then go for it. If not, look for lower milage models.

Thanks for your answers, made me abit more confident. I just saw the servicepaper, and it has been served 6 times, every ~10000 miles and it will come with full lexus warranty, 8years/90000 miles. So that bit is covered.

But what about the big costs.. like suspensions. At what time do they need service/replacement? Ofcourse it depends on how the car has been driven, but for a normal type of driver at middleage.

I want to know what im buying and what the car will cost me the nearest future, so it doesnt end up with a big suprice

You live in Sweden and most likely you get snow for many months a year. I suggest you look for a AWD IS250 instead than a rear wheal drive IS250. I live in Canada and have a AWD and I'll tell you it is much better and safer with the snow.
