Pintoca Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I searched before posting this and found old topics on garmin and tom tom units...but I hate the idea of having that cable out on top of the dashboard....so what I'm asking is if anyone has one installed on the dash? I really would like one but I'm not sure...what to get? I don't think a retractable one would look good but I'm open to any suggestions.

F14Scott Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 We had Best Buy wire an ignition-switched 12v socket into the glove compartment. If we want nav, we pull out the Garmin and its beanbag mount and set it on the dash, then close the GC door on the cord (it doesn't pinch much, so the cord is fine). Otherwise, the Garmin stays in the GC. It stays charged and turns on and off with the car, regardless of its location.
