Lost Power To Clock, Climate Control, Radio/cd

Recommended Posts

AFTER CHECK ALL THE FUSES TO DEATH !! This is what I fould out !

1994 GS300

Non working clock, radio/cd, climate control and pwr side mirrors.

The problem does not always lie on the fuses. (mine were all good)

CHECK ALL RELAYS as well. My heater relay blew. I replaced it and all is well, I got power back to the clock, radio/CD, climate control and side mirrors.

How do you check for a bad relay ?

1) Put key in the ON position. (dont start the car)

2) In the fuse box iniside engine bay are some relays. While key is in on position pull a relay, (they require more force to pull out then a fuse, so pull hard with some rocking action, do it with care).

3) Reinstall it again by pressing it back into its slot. As you reconnect the relay you should hear a CLICKING sound inside of the relay as it makes contact to its socket. If it clicks then its a GOOD relay. If no clicking sound then its a bad relay.

Repeat procedure untill you find the bad relay.

(In my case it was the HEATER RELAY. (not the fuse)

PLEASE DO NOT PULL ANY RELAY THAT HAS TO DO WITH AIRBAGS !!

I replaced my alternator and the stronger current from the new alternator could blow OLD FUSES and OLD RELAYS. My old alternator seems to be the original from 1994. All original tell tale Lexus stickers are still on it. (just a hypothesis)

Thanks to everyone.

Bill
