motoroil
Hi, my check engine light came on, I have a '93, i used the paperclip jumper method--its code 21. I was told that is the oxygen sensor. The car has two. Anyone know which sensor code 21 is? I want to replace only the one I have to, I am pooor. Thanks! George_Jetson
Code 21 is for the left bank. Check ebay, you can pick up a generic sensor for much less than a toyota. I prefer Bosh sensors personally. Be aware that the left bank sensor will need a adapter flange, that is included with most sensors (be sure to check that it is included before purchasing). The 92-93 use single wire sensors, the universal replacements include a crimp connector. The idea is to use the connector off you original sensor, and crimp it to the new sensor. I recomend getting some heat shrink tubing ( radio shack, home depot, lowes carries) and soldering the connection.
motoroil
Thanks George, that helps a ton. And just to be sure, the left bank is the side closer to the firewall, is that right? Or is the the side closer to the grill? Left bank = front bank or rear bank??? THANKS!! Called a dealer--left bank = front bank Time to get it done! :D
