MKMD
I took my 1996 LS 400 to the stealers ( Lexus service) today for 100,000 mi service to change the timing belt and water pump. The manager called me and reported that the ball joints are shot, the front struts are bad and the ignition wires need replacement. Total cost 2700.00 Do you think the ball joints, struts can be done in a place other than Lexus? Is there a website to buy the items? Thanks in advance. xoneinax
Any good Japanese/Import repair shop can do it. EBay OR If you want actual dealer OEM parts, buy through the dealers who have a side business selling parts on the web for at least 20% off, if not 30%. eatingupblacktop
Toyota will likely give you a substantially less expensive est. Even on the parts. Ball joints and struts are easy enough to recognize in your everyday driving. Is the car quiet? How much road noise and harshness is transmitted to the interior? If in doubt, get a second estimate. Oh yes, and my advice - stay with oem.
