Bypass Ac Compressor?

I have a 1990 LS400. About four years ago the factory AC compressor died and I stupidly bought a rebuilt compressor on ebay and had it installed. It worked great but now there's a loud squeaking noise coming from it whether the AC is on or off. Interestingly the AC still works great when activated but there's an additional loud whirring noise to boot.

Toyota dealership wants roughly 1000 dollars in parts and labor to replace the compressor. Since I won't need AC during the winter, I'm wondering if it would be safe/possible to bypass the compressor all together with a smaller serpentine belt. If this would work would anyone know what size serpentine I would need?

I appreciate any feedback.

I did this to my Cadillac last year while I was on a trip and it worked fine.
