fins0608 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I have a new 2008 GX470. The only light that comes on as the "daytime running light" is the turn signal indicator. Under daytime running lights, the manual says that the "headlights turn on automatically (at a reduced intensity) whenever the engine is started and the parking brake is released." Should the amber turn signal light be glowing continuously (without the headlights on at all) as the daytime running lights? I don't live near a dealer to check another 08 GX, so if someone could verify this for me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
denslexusgx470 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I believe the manual is referring to the amber turn signals. As far as I know, the DRLs for the GX has always been the amber turn signals and since they only made minor cosmetic changes in the 08 GX, your GX should have the amber turn signals as your DRLs. Check it out in the garage or driveway. ;) Welcome and congrats on the GX!
The G Man Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 The turn signal is the DRL and the headlights turns on automatically when its dark outside. When the headlight is on the DRL is off.
xxstewart Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 The front bulb in my '08 GX is a 4157, which is a dual filament bulb. I haven't spent much time staring at it while driving, but my guess is that one filament is the driving light, and the other filament is the turn signal.
xxstewart Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I need to correct my last post. My '08 GX driving light/turn signal bulb (front) takes an amber 1156 type, which is a single filament bayonet base. Sorry about the error.
