alexus62 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hello, i am new in this forum. I come from Denmark/Europe. I own a Lexus IS 200 from 1999. The radio/cassette/CD unit (part nr.: 86120-53040) in it broke down. I bought a used unit from a Lexus IS 300 from 2002 (part nr.: 86120-53120) in USA via ebay. The problem is, that multiplug from the wiring in my car (18 pins) does not fit multiplug on the "new" unit (20 pins). Can anyone tell me how the wiringdiagram is on the multiplug on the radio/cassette/CD unit from the Lexus IS 300 from 2002? (If poosible, can anyone tell me how the wiringdiagram is on the multiplug on the radio/cassette/CD unit from the Lexus IS 200 from 1999?) Can anyone tell me, if there exists some kind of adaptor to connect these two units? I will be thankfull for any answer. Kindly Alex
smooth1 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I would need a picture of the wiring harness you have in the IS 200 along with the wirring schematic, so I can figure out what the differences are. Does the IS 200 have a seperate amp?

Does the IS 200 have a seperate amp? Hello Smooth 1 Thank you for your answer. I think I now have all the information you ask for, but i am not allowed to mail you on this site, and i dont know how to fill in an image in my reply. I am asked for an URL adres, which i haven't got for my pictures. Do you have an idea how to get in touch? If you can inform me how the wiring is on the 86120-53120 audio unit, i am pretty sure, that i will be able to connect the wiring in my car to the "new" unit. Hope to hear from you again. Kindly Alex

smooth1 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Ok, let's start with this first: Is this the radio your putting in or took out? I hope it's the radio you took out. Because that's not an american version IS 300 head unit. That looks like an Altezza radio. Next, this picture: The color code operations is: Cyan/Yellow = Constant 12v power Grey = Ignition Green = Illumination Blue/white = Power antennea Brown = Ground Lt. Green + / Lt. Blue - = Right speaker purple + / pink - = Left speaker red + / white - = Right rear speaker ( The high, not the woofer) black + / Yellow - = Left rear speaker (The high not the woofer) If you indeed have the IS 300 version head unit, I can get you the plugs that fit into the head unit. Then you would just have to cut the harnesses you have off and splice them into the correct socket of the US version harness.
smooth1 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 The U.S. version is almost the exact opposite of the one you have there. See how the CD plaeyer in between the knobs and the screen is below that and the cassette player is all the way to the bottom?

The picture above is the unit that i took OUT of my car, the one i want til put INTO my car, is exactly the same as the one you show in the picture, see below:

Then this and the male part of the harness, and the wire diagram for your car should be all you need. Just match the function and color to the correct location on the harness and you good to go.

Hello mr Smooth1 Thank you for your reply. Maybe we misunderstand each other because of the language difficulties. I have the wiring diagram for my car, so what i need is the wiring diagram for the new head unit that comes from the US is300. The colour codes i can understand, and i understand that they are from the US is300 head unit, but i don't know which pin of the male plug / head unit i should connect the wiring from my car to. I would be very interested in getting the plug, you mentioned it earlier, that would fit in the head unit. Yours sincirely, and i appologize for the inconvenience Alex

The rear speakers are getting no sound and I double triple checked I followed your colors to the T.
Lucifer34 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Everything is tied directly in to the amp harness and it turns on and off with the key it plays good through the front but no sound out of the back speakers. Plz help I have OCD and it’s !Removed! me off XD
