York
My '93 SC400 is starting to make some hard initial shifts when when it is started cold first thing in the morning, shifted from park into reverse to back out of the garage and then into drive. Once it even chirped the tires. It does not happen all the time, and does not seem to be associated with high engine idle rpm. After it warms up, the shifts are normal. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have any ideas? The trans was serviced 15k miles ago. Thanks!
lemaylexus
My '97 SC300 has similar issues. I thought at first it might be the tranny mount, but that wouldn't explain why it doesn't do it when it's warm. I'm interested to see if anyone's got answers for this one.
York
Yep, I thought about the engine/trans mounts also, but the car shifts very smoothly when warmed up.
xaine
are you guys running the type T-II trans fluid. the wrong fluids can cause hard shifts. but on the other hand, i did read a technical service bulletin about dropping the valve body and adding a five ball. i swear it. somethign about smoother shifts. lemaylexus
No idea what type of fluid is in mine, but if it's not too expensive I'll have them put the recommended fluid in there next time I get my oil changed.
