  1. I had the same vibration issue, and had the wheels/tires balanced again, but it did not stop. Installed new tires yesterday and the vibration is gone. How old/worn are the tires on your car?
  2. Wow, 247,000, that is impressive! I was under my car yesterday and noticed that the last person (a trans shop) to drop the transmission pan did not use a gasket, but globbed sealant all over the place instead. I have a new filter and gasket kit so I guess I will go ahead and clean off the sealant and install the new stuff myself. It will be interesting to see if the magnets have much stuff on them.
  3. Roughly how many miles might I reasonably expect to get on my '93 SC400 transmission? It is regularly serviced and used as a daily driver. I am at 135,000 miles now.
  4. Yep, I thought about the engine/trans mounts also, but the car shifts very smoothly when warmed up.
  5. My '93 SC400 is starting to make some hard initial shifts when when it is started cold first thing in the morning, shifted from park into reverse to back out of the garage and then into drive. Once it even chirped the tires. It does not happen all the time, and does not seem to be associated with high engine idle rpm. After it warms up, the shifts are normal. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have any ideas? The trans was serviced 15k miles ago. Thanks!
  6. I am going to put new pads on the front brakes of my '93 SC400, can someone tell me the caliper mounting bolt(s) torque specs? Do the calipers pivot up or do I remove them completely? Thanks!
  7. Had the similar shut down problem with a Ford Taurus SHO, turned out to be the camshaft position sensor. Engine will not run without that information.
  8. Should be R12 unless it has been converted to R134a, in which case R134a compatible fittings were added over the high and low pressure ports, and they don't fit R12 hose connections. Any A/C shop can tell you which you have.
  9. Ah, right, that makes sense, I will try from under the car and remove the alt if needed. Thanks for the advise!
  10. Thanks for the information, that is great! I just removed the intake duct and AFM to get a better look at the power steering pump. Access sure is tight in there. Did you use a particular kind of wrench to remove the pressure hose connection, and did you break the connection before you removed the pump? I am not sure I have the right tool to get to that connection with the pump still mounted. Thanks again for the help, I am used to working on my '91 Miata, the Lexus is quite a different animal (and a fantastic car).
  11. Can anyone tell me the torque specs for the power steering pump mounting bolts and main connection? Thanks!
