kjtar Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 I'm considering the purchase of a SC300 because it's the coupe with a 5 speed manual transmission. But, in pursuing this goal, I began to wonder if anyone out there has found (or if there's a shop that specializes in) the conversion of the SC400 automatic transmission to a 5 speed? Are there any SC400 5 speed manual transmission cars out there, and if so, how do I find them, how do they handle, etc., etc.? Thanks very much, Tom Reynolds Hereford, AZ
SPORTcoupe300 Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 It's a big pain in the !Removed! conversion and I don't think many have done it. Price would be too much. I don't get why you would want to do it anyways. SC300 has plenty of power and if you want more you can turbo an SC300(to have way more power than SC400) for much cheaper than converting an SC400 to a stick.
UCF3 Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 No, Toyota never made a manual transmission for the Soarer 4.0. I asked a couple of my friends in Aus and Japan, whether a 5sp or 6sp is feasible or worth making. They said "hell no... The wires and design is very difficult to work with and convert..."
