I am going to change the sparkplugs on my 97 LS400. I heard that it's a Distributorless ignition system. Can anyone confirm? no wire to replace. Do you still use dielectric grease even there's no wire? Still thinking whether to get iridium or platinum plugs. I changed sparkplugs for other cars before. Any advice/precaution specific to this car? Thanks.

There are wires to replace but check the resistance on them first. I'd go with OEM wires (if you need to replace them) because they fit like a glove--each wire is cut to the exact length. I've always run iridium plugs, and I've got no complaints as far as mileage or performance is concerned.

Also, a 10" extension for your ratchet with a spark plug socket makes it quiet easy to fish the plugs out. ;)

Make sure you use the dielectric grease, and anti-sieze, and torque them to 13 ft lbs!

Thanks to all for all the wonderful advices. I am going to do it this weekend with NGK sparkplugs. I will post an update after that. ;)
