Help me! My SC400 began to barely run 3 days ago and I had to park it far from home. When I first bought the car 6 months ago I changed the Spark Plugs and wires. I bought aftermarket wires and discovered that I had to use as many originals as I could since the ends of the stock wires are thin and pointy.

Well I had a time with the driver's side coil arcing until I fixed it with pliers, glue and not bolting down the cover plate it ran thru.

Now that coil wire rubbed thru and I could see it arcing like crazy. It's been raining non stop so my work is not easy. I came back yesterday with a new coil wire, and even a new coil from Pep Boyz. It still arcs against the block with the old coil and when I attach the new coil, (it hangs off, since I cant figure out how to get to the 4 screws holding the old coil in place) I soldered a ground wire to the new coil and attached to block. But it still won't run right.

I can hear the clicking sound of the arcing inside the other end of the coil wire (a distributor I guess) I am running out of ideas and money. I was going to hit a junkyard for a distributor, but if anyone knows the problem I would be super grateful.

Also, 2 months ago, my speedo stopped working. I know it has an electronic sender on the tranny and I took it out and cleaned all the parts, no go. Then I bought a used instrument cluster and it still won't work! Now the airbag lite stays on too. The speedo doesn't work and after 1 mile or so the "O/D Off" lite begins to flash. Is there some way to reset this thing? I couldn't locate any fuse for the speedo. Please help me! Thanks

I would say the plug is also badly gapped. Otherwise lay some rubber around the base of it .

I TRIED SILICONE BUT EVEN WITH THE NEW COIL IT STILL WON'T RUN RIGHT. DO THESE THINGS NEED NEW DISTRIBUTORS? AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE PLUG? IT'S THE LEFT COIL WIRE THAT'S ARCING.
