scottmcc Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Hello all I purchased my 2005 LS 430 just over a month ago. Since then I have been approached with some offers to purchase an extended Warranty for about $3400. 3 year 36000 miles. I called a local Lexus dealer at was told I could get one for $2700. Murphy's law says that if I don't get this something bad will happen. It has 66000 perfectly documented maintenced miles on it. I am thinking this money would be much better spent on some nice shinny 20's
SW03ES Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Since its outside of the 50k miles requirement to qualify for the new car Lexus extended warranty I'd say take a pass. $2700 is a lot...
Sanpete Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Not worth it. It doesn't cover normal maintenance, such as changing timing belt and water pump, only failures not due to normal wear. You're unlikely to have such a failure.

You're unlikely to have such a failure. I don't agree with that. My extended warranty on the ES has been worthwhile, its covered probably $5-6k worth of repairs for $1600. But, I don't think I'd pay $2700 for one on an LS which is historically a more reliable car anyways, espcially for only 36k miles of coverage. Plenty of things can go wrong within the warranty period that would be covered, sensors, leaks, premature failure of belts, electrical issues.
