Jgrill5
Hi everyone. I just purchased an 02 GS300. It's my first GS (I've had an ES, LS, and RX before). I got a good deal on the car, but all they had with the car was a non-remote key. From what I've found, it looks like it's going to be VERY expensive to get some new remote keys. Any idea what is the best course of action for me? Also, are there any problem areas I need to check into on these cars. It has 45k miles on it. Thanks! LexusGS400RacerX
JGrill, Welcome to the forums! Enjoy your new ride! :D First off, I would suggest buying a blank key with a remote on it. Then, I'd take it to a locksmith who specializes in copying car keys, and have him copy that up. Check with ebay first =] They have blanks for cheap. djspawn00
I agree, I got my OEM key with remote from ebay then had a locksmith cut it. THe instructions were included to program the remote buttons but I got lazy. Just as long as you program the new keys you should be fine. I hope the key you have is not a valet key or you're screwed. I also have an 02 gs300 and other than maintenance there have been no real issues. Well one oxygen sensor but that was nothing major.
