norcalIS350 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 i have a 07 IS350 and when i have the backup camera initiated, in the top left hand corner, there is a pyramid shaped black area, very very tiny. is this normal? although it doesnt impede the camera vision and its very small, it still bothers me.

Did you clean the lense (on the trunk); if there is a little particle on it then it shows on the screen. Best way is to blow some air on it or gently wipe it with a dry rug.

Rx330driver Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 are you sure its not the edge of the car. Put it in reverse and have somebody walk behind you and point at the camera to pinpoint the area. the lense is suppose to have that rounded fish ball look where everything is bigger in the middle. i think it might be catching the edge of the trunk lid.

norcalIS350 Posted August 4, 2007 Author Posted August 4, 2007 the camera just wasnt positioned correctly...good that the dealer fixed it for you I took it to the dealership and they changed out the camera. still the same. still has the same dark corners in the upper left and right side. i dont know if its something wrong with the camera or if its catching the edge of the car. anyone have suggestions?

Sounds like it's seeing the edges of the boot lid. Sit in the car and get someone to put their hand/finger in these areas to see if you can pinpoint it. There may be nothing wrong with the camera, but at least this way you'll know.
norcalIS350 Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 i think its because the camera has a fishball lense angle and the screen is square so it doesnt get the whole picture. oh well. now i regret changing out the camera, shouldve stayed with the original. the camera just wasnt positioned correctly...good that the dealer fixed it for you I took it to the dealership and they changed out the camera. still the same. still has the same dark corners in the upper left and right side. i dont know if its something wrong with the camera or if its catching the edge of the car. anyone have suggestions?
