7mgte In The Sc400?

Recommended Posts

Okay so i got an 93' sc400 for cheap everything is still good but the car needs a new motor, and my cousin just crashed his 87' turbo supra. I want to know if the engine will just drop in or will it need fabrication, messing with the wire harness, or anything else. If you've done this swap before or know of a website for this swap let me know. this is my first sc400 and don't know too much about it. Thanks

it wont be an easy swap. lots of fabrication is needed and wiring wont be easy. im guessing that the supra was a 5-speed so converting the sc in to manual will be a challenge. and if it is an auto then forget it! not to discourage you but its more work that its cut out for...

It could be done. The answers to all your questions are yes. Of course there will be fabbing and wiring issues. Any swap will require these things. But the 7m is inferior to the 1jz or 2jz. The 7m has potential but no where near as well developed an engine. You can bolt a 2jz in directly with oem motor mounts. Still need to to some work though. Since you have the roller cheap, it may be a good idea to do a turbo converted NA motor swap/auto tranny. It seems you are on a budget and that will probably be the cheapest route depending on how fancy you want to get.
