Rust On Rear Brake Drums And Tranny Question

I just bought a 1995 SC400 and it has quite a bit of rust on the rear brake drums. I spent a lot of time polishing it off, but it came back. Does anyone know of a solution for this? Also I found a used 87 supra tranny, will it work on my car?

Your car has rotors in the rear. OEM rotors dont rust as some aftermarket rotors. Also Brembo rotors that are plated hold up extremely well against rust. I don't think the transmission would work, someone else will probably know for sure.

also could you elaborate on your brakes? like the above post the car has disks in the rear. are you talking about your calipers?

Well, there are drums inside the rear rotors for the handbrake... Something with those maybe?

If the brake dust is excessive it may be from the use of aftermarket pads. Also you may want to check the pads to see if they are wearing evenly on both sides.
