2001 Rx300 Engine With Valve Noise

I have a 2001 RX300 with of course the 3.0L engine. It has 97k miles. The engine at about 80k started a engine "tapping" noise. It sounds like a "lifter" but it overhead cam. I called Lexus dealer about and and they told me to bring it in. There crack mehanic told me "not to worry", its only a lifter and it will last a long time. It can be fixed but he said don't waste your money. It is very noisely and I don't like it.

Has anybody had the same problem?

I don't think many people in this forum own RX300's, much less with that problem.

You may have better luck in the RX300 section.
