djspawn00
Anyone ever have any issues with oil consumption? I think it might just be coming from the drain plug or more likely the oil filter but it was raining and couldn't check, I've never seen the dipstick so low, but then again the ground wasn't exactly lever and the engine was only off for about 2 minutes, damn weather. I have a 2006 GS 300 with 12000 miles. I routinely check the oil level and have never had to add any oil between oil changes. I would suspect that something is leaking on yours. If it leaks on an engine part that is very hot, you might not see oil under the car, but the newer engines that Toyota makes simply do not consume much oil in my experience. Hope this helps

Hope this helps Thanks for the reply but your car has a 3GRFSE which is a different engine (2JZ-GE). If your car with 12k showed any signs of oil consumption you'd have major problems unless you had a lil forced induction help or you were driving and rx-8. The 2JZ has been around for a while, a long while. My oil consumption was not consumption at all but rather a hasty filter installation. I'm trying to get an idea if there is any consumption increase as this engine ages, post 100k mark just to make sure that if i do notice drop later on that I don't have to freak out looking for a problem. My experience with my infiniti shows practically no consumption at 139k but my mazda on the other hand takes a quart every 2000k probably due more to a valve cover gasket that needs to change more than anything else. My solara post engine replacement also has no issues. I'm also looking into ordering a 30gallon drum of amsoil which should cover about 20 oil changes between 4 vehicles that I have using 5w-30. Being that the amsoil has such long intervals I wouldnt want to make a poor economic decision of having oil that last longer but has to be topped off too often to negate the benefits.
