Oil Leak

Recommended Posts

I purchased a used 2003 GS300 on Ebay with 81,000 miles. At 83,000 miles, replace the diver door lock actuator $ 300.00. At 89,000 , replace one oxygen sensor $ 313. at 90,000, the seal between the engine and transmission started leaking will cost $ 700.00. At 91,000 the second oxygen sensor failed and will cost $ 400.00. At 91,500 the car will not start and juts setting in the driveway. This is my fisrt Lexus and just wonderding if these is normal reapir.

I don't have that many miles on my car but $400 sounds really steep (unless it was siezed on the manifold and the mechanic cracked it taking it out) for an 02 sensor....I can't be certain but maybe the problem isn't with your car but rather your mechanic.. I've never heard of the the seal between the engine and transmission starting to leak but thats just me.

i have a 99 gs400, so i may not have the same problems, but the rear main seal failure is known to happen on mine with high mileage examples. the same goes for the door actuators. but the o2 sensors i haven't heard anything on.

i have over 100k mi on mine, and the only thing i've had gone wrong from the list above is the rear main seal... but i used http://www.auto-rx.com and it stopped leaking thank god :o

Hi i have a 93 gs300 with 175000 mi the rear seal has been leaking for 5 years( small drips on ocassion) if it's a slow bleeder like mine just check fluid levels and save $$. O2 sensors not a apparent problem with lexus. widow motors do act up on ocassion and are big bucks to replace like about $600 since you got to replace more then just motor.

ebay has a lot of bad carma related to car sales its best to have dealer check car over for $100 before you buy. Good luck
