htdc520 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I smell gas fumes when I drive my 2002 IS300. Also, there is some black smoke that comes out of my exhaust when I drive. I did some searching in the internet and learned that this is most likely caused by bad seals on the the fuel injectors. Can someone validate this? My car has 32k miles. If the fuel injector seals are indeed the problem, how hard is it to clean or replace them and is it importmant that I get done immediately? Can anyone provide instructions? Thanks.
bartkat Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Black smoke would indicate that it's running rich. Has your gas mileage dropped a significant amount? Not sure about injector seals as it could be caused by other things. I'd suggest having it checked out by the dealer or a good shop. They should be able to pinpoint the problem fairly easily.
