Gmackfield Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I have a 2002 IS300,I was driving it last week and pushed on the gas and the accelerator stayed down, I hit the brakes and the car kept going. I had the brakes all the way down and the car was still going 60 some MPH. Has anyone ever had this happen to them or heard of this? I took it to the dealership and they didnt find a problem. I'm thinking of now getting rid of the car.
Gmackfield Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 I put the car in neutral then turned the key off and pulled onto the shoulder. I live in the city but i was lucky this happened on the highway or it could have got ugly.
Zorprime Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 This has happened to me and a few people on my.is. Basically if the mat comes loose from the hook or you have aftermarket mats it will slid up under the accelerator pedal keeping it down..make sure your mat is place properly. I am pretty sure this is your problem..
