2manyboats Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I'm about to buy a GX 470. I am concerned that the swing-out tailgate might not fully open with some trailers, specifically boattrailers with the usual winch standard fairly foreward on the trailer tongue. I'd appreciate some feedback from owners who trailer boats or other things as to this potential problem. thank You, JimL
Cookeze Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I thought this would be more of a problem than it is. I put some pipe insulation on the jack housing just to make sure I didn't hurt the door. It turned out that I really don't need to open the door beyond the first stop very often. If I do, I just plan ahead and turn the car to the right in relation to the trailer. I haven't hit the jack housing yet. We also tow two different autoloader trailer without a problem. One weights about 6000 lbs with a 57 Chevy on board.
