acf Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 Gonna use a trusted shop to change the oil and rotate my tires. Should I assume they know which oil and filter to use? Assuming not...what oil and filter should they use? :P
SW03ES Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 Just normal 5W30 is fine. Actually if I were you I'd buy the Lexus oil filter and have them use that, its the best out there.
VMF Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 yeah definelty use only lexus v8 filters they are bigger and the paper inside is thiker. as to the oil you might as well switch to sinthetic 5w-30. i did 2k on it already and its still light!
acf Posted August 18, 2003 Author Posted August 18, 2003 Its really worth bringing my own filter to the shop? Man, this luxury car lifestyle is nutty. :D Do I have to buy that from the dealer?
VMF Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 you can get them online as well they vary in price from 7 to 10$ dont pay more. and yes you should bring it to the shop. i bring my own oil and filter:) if you want i will give you partnumber for the filter or you can look it up at www.newlexusparts.com
acf Posted August 19, 2003 Author Posted August 19, 2003 you can get them online as well they vary in price from 7 to 10$ dont pay more. and yes you should bring it to the shop. i bring my own oil and filter:)if you want i will give you partnumber for the filter or you can look it up at www.newlexusparts.com That'd be great, thanks.
acf Posted August 20, 2003 Author Posted August 20, 2003 Just want to confirm I found the right filter. oil filter, LS400, SC400 95-00 $9.81 $8.14 Maintenance & lubrication - Engine service - Filters - oil filter Sound about right? Buy it from there recommended?
VMF Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 yeah, you can either call em or do it online. thats how much i paid. check this thread out thats the parts i bought from them
acf Posted August 20, 2003 Author Posted August 20, 2003 Thanks. I notice the guy talking about those parts didn't notice a difference in filters based on the oil analysis. I'm just tryng to justify the slight inconvenience of buying my own and taking it to the shop each time. Seems like a no-brainer if changing it myself but...
VMF Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 still i would get those denso filters. i trust em more anyway i'm out to cancun, c ya all in a week!
