Dr.Gee Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 On a recent trip,my nav system went crazy. The compass was all screwed up, more so I assume it was the gps as the compass on the mirror was fine. It had the present location completely wrong>At one point I was in the middle of Lake Erie. I didnt change anything. It just happened while driving. I reset, did it again then reset over the course of the trip.Any ideas? I did not cross over into a different map region during the trip.
Rx330driver Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 i think your antennae (sp?) might be the problem...if its like the RX or the never models, it should be located right under the windshield. have lexus check it out. nothing much you can do.
Dr.Gee Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 any chance a satellite radio antenna on the dash could be interfering?
JSB-GX Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I have had the same problem with my nav. It has gone "crazy" twice since I got the vehicle a couple of months ago. I have also noticed my Lexus link light turns red during or around the times it has lost positioning. The wildcard is I had the Vais SLI adaptor (iPod adaptor) installed right when I got the vehicle. I brought the vehicle to the dealer and they told me there was nothing wrong with the nav unit and the iPod adaptor must have caused the problem. Is that true? I didn't think the dealer would find any problems since the nav unit usually works perfectly. It was only these two times that I had to re-calibrate the positioning. I looked on the Vais forum pages and didn't see anything about interference with nav units. Anyone have any thoughts or similar issues?
radioactiveaudio Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 We are having the same problem. did you find a fix for this?
JSB-GX Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 We are having the same problem. did you find a fix for this? No fix yet. I posted something on the Vais forum but it doesn't sound like other Vais users are having the same problem. As far as the antenna mention - I do have my EZ Pass in the window right near the rear view mirror. I guess that could cause some interference but I would think other EZ Pass users would have that problem as well. Radioactiveaudio - do you have a Vais iPod unit? Mine seems to loose positioning when I am actually using it to get directions. But it's difficult to tell if thats true since it's only happened 3 times. I only have 1200 miles on the vehicle and have used it for directions about 5 times.

Here is what it said: "We have had this problem back in January of 2006, in about 500 units. Our factory installed a wrong component on the board that was causing this problem. If you bought your unit around that time, then you need to send it back for repair." Looks like it was not a Lexus problem. I'm just happy there is a fix.
