Increase Wheel Size - Affect Ride?

Sandman

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to the forum, this is my first post.

I just bought a 1992 SC400 and am considering switching to either a 17 or 18 inch chrome wheel (for the looks). If I do I'm wondering how the lower profile tire will affect the ride. Any experience/opinions, things to watch out for and directions to go in?

Thanks

I just put new rims and tires on my car. I increased to 17" chrome rims with 245/17/r45 tires which maintains pretty much the stock diameter within reasonable error so my speedometer isn't off too much at all. The ride wasn't really affected. I didn't notice any difference in ride. Maybe a little better handling, haven't really tested that out much.

I have 17 inch rims on my car and the only difference i noticed is that the ride is a bit more bumpier because there is less cushion from the lower profile tires. I would say go with either one because you do get a bit more better handling to. Overall its worth it and you wont even notice you have them.
