  1. Thanks, yeah I checked around here. I'll shop around some local stores tomorrow and see what they can do.
  2. I dont think there are any kits avaliable to install the deck but what i would do is go to any shop that installs decks and ask for a filler. You can also any store like circuit city which also installs stereos. Its basically a peice of plastic that fills in the space left in the console, it should cost only a couple dollars. They come in different sizes so make sure you measure the space you need if you are doing it yourself. I will send you some pics of my car stereo from my other car that has this filler. Check out this setup http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...?showtopic=4600 Well that looks good to me! I guess the problem was I was going to a Best Buy to do the install and they told me I needed a kit. Guess not. I'll go someplace else to do the install then and find one that has the right stuff to do it. Thanks.
  3. Hi. I need to find a kit so I can get my aftermarket stereo installed and fitted into the console of my 1992 SC400. I've searched the net but I am coming up empty. Any ideas? It's a Kenwood KDC-X811 if that makes any difference. Mike

  5. I'm looking for rims and I notice some of them will say front wheel drive. Why do they say that? Are they only ok for front wheel drive vehicles??? What makes them that way? If they can't be used on rear wheel drive just curious, why not? Thanks.
  6. It's just weird because they do say that it's made for front wheel drive. :whistles:
  7. Yeah, well, to each his own. I wouldn't do it.
  8. Actually, now I'm more confused than ever. I found this on rims at Club Lexus.com... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158592 Offsets: The stock offset is +50mm. When stock wheels are mounted to our cars, they appear to be “sunken” (tucked into the fender). Too low of an offset will make a wheel stick out, passed the fender. Many people choose to go with a lower offset, or run spacers, so the wheels will not appear to be sunken, and come to the edge of the fender, for a more aggressive/clean look. you can go as low as +38 on a 10” wide wheel in the rear without any fender modifications and as low as +22 on a 10” wide wheel with your fenders rolled. your tire size plays a big role here. From this it seems that positive 40mm will be fine, so, considering what you said, I am now more confused.
  9. I am considering buying a set of Velox VX-8 rims. They are 18 x 7.5 with a 40mm offset. They are listed on a website as being for front wheel drive vehicles. Why do they do that? Does it make a difference? I thought a rim was a rim. Are these rims ok for a 1992 SC400? Thanks. P.S. Any idea what size tires I should go for with this?
  10. Thanks It is the amp. Very typical problem. ;) So, what do I have to do? Replace it? Or is there another fix? Should I go aftermarket or not? Thanks for your help.
  11. Yesterday I was driving my car and the radio at first worked fine. I park it, get back in later, then the radio starts to play like two words then the sound just cuts in and out, in a rhythmic one second on, one second off pattern. Also, I started it up later and the radio at first had no sound at all then started that same rythmic pattern. Weird. Any ideas what's wrong? Things to check? Thanks
  12. The little radiator symbol had been going on and off for a few days. Yesterday I was at a red light and someone got my attention to tell me I was leaking fluid. The guage had shot up to the top. I pulled off the road into a parking spot and shut the car off. 30 seconds later I started it up for a moment to back it into the spot further and noticed the guage now reading normal!? When I came back after a few hours and topped off the fluid I was able to drive it approx. 12 minutes on the highway without the meter going past the second hash mark. When I got near home I had to stop for a minute, then the guage started going up right away. Line of drops coming from the car, not sure where from yet. No steam. No antifreeze smell. Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks. Sandman
  13. The rims look great. How is the ride on them compared to the stock 16"? I'm thinking of switching mine too but this does concern me. Thanks.
  14. Hi, I'm new to the forum, this is my first post. I just bought a 1992 SC400 and am considering switching to either a 17 or 18 inch chrome wheel (for the looks). If I do I'm wondering how the lower profile tire will affect the ride. Any experience/opinions, things to watch out for and directions to go in? Thanks
