Can Someone Confirm My Research?

i found some info on my a/c fan speed problem on another site. i'd like to confirm this if anyone has had this issue. my a/c indicates high speed but fan only blows on low. others are saying that the blower resistor is bad only if fan blows at HIGH speed. thay are saying that the blower TRANSISTOR is bad if only low speed. apparently it is a real pita to get to the transistor. is my research correct? can i fix this myself with some cold beer and a lot of patience? could it be a relay controlling the a/c and where is it located? ANY help is greatly appreciated.

i've read that the blower RESISTOR is a piece of cake, 2 screws and done. but...i've read and seen an exploded view of the blower TRANSISTOR which appears to be a nightmare actually located inside the evaporator. if this is true how easy a replacement is the TRANSISTOR in the evap?

OK..heres the latest. took it to the dealer this morning to have the blower issue fixed. Cost me a $100 to have it diagnosed :chairshot: . it was as researched...the blower TRANSISTOR located on the back side of the evaporator casing. the resistor checked out OK. the resistor is an easy replacement for anyone who owns a simple phillips screwdriver. well....3.5 hours @124.88/hr to remove the dash and replace the transistor and 186.00 for the part itself for a grand total of 623.08 + tax. can you believe this? i refused their offer politely and explained that a case of beer at $15.99 would get the job done. now all i need is some detailed instructions on how to remove the dash. HELP!!! anyone??? we are finally on the downside of summer here in florida so i can afford to wait a little while. i will post another plea for help.
