woodibly
Hey guys, I was trying to clean my maf today with MAF cleaner. But after i plugged it back in, my car would stall and there would be a check engine light. However, when I unscrew and pull out the maf a bit the car starts and idles like normal, except with the cel. Is the maf damaged? The car only stalls when the maf is plugged all the way in. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
SKperformance
Definitely sounds like you solved your own problem. Try cleaning it again as well as disconnecting the battery before installing it to reset the computer.
Toysrme
The 92 uses an AFM, not a MAF. They don't get dirty on any metering portion. By cleaning it, you may have destroyed the PCB in the top of it, which would make it, well not work! Try resetting the ECU & plugging it in. Otherwise... eBay / Junkyard time! Be sure to check it with a multimeter.
woodibly
Yea, I destroyed it. :chairshot: Luckily I found a nice junkyard that had the exact part and it did the trick. ToysRMe knows his stuff! Thanks for the replies guys. :D
Toysrme
Good deal. You've got the right idea tho! What you wanna do is take the upper intake manifold off & clean it, the throttle body, EGr valve & IAC valve. Change the spark plugs while it's off too! (and check the distributor cap& rotor, wires & everything else fancy!)
