lexus400 Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 '91 LS, 175k. New - struts, lower ball joints, rack and bushings, strut rods, inner/outer tie rods. Upper control arms have about 120k on them (were replaced when I bought the car and look/feel fine). I get a popping noise when I turn to the right kind of quickly. Not speed dependant and definitely a "popping" sort of noise not a clunk. Only happens when turning, over bumps is fine. Any ideas ? I have almost everything covered don't I ? thanks
bicol-ini Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 could be your steering rack is going bad, just my .02 :)
VBdenny Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I hate stuff like that because it could be one of many things. I am sorry I don't know the order but here are things it could be. Upper or lower ball joints. It is more likely it is the lower if the car still drives fine and no noticable wear on the tires. I have know loose and failing wheel bearing to make that kind of a noise. It could be the torsion bar mount. It could be a loose brake caliper. It could be the rack. Probably the easiist way to determione the problem is to pay Lexus the $75 for an inspection and they will give you a grocery list
