Hey, I just bought the is350 and had a question about the navigation system. It seems like the first few days I had the car, if I turned on the head lights the navigation system would go darker (night mode) and when i turned off the head lights the screen on the navi would go back to day mode.

I'm not sure what happened but now it stays in day mode constantly. I read the manual and apparently i changed an option and it says it memorizes this option when you turn off your car so that you wont be able to revert back to night mode anymore. The manual does not explain how i can fix this. Does anyone know about this problem and how to change it back so the navi goes from day to night mode with the flick of the headlight?

You need to turn down your instrument lighting,...don't run it at full brightness.

the brightness level is different. the day night mode actually changes the background from a white background to a black background. when you adjust hte brightness level, its just a white background getting darker.

I believe you need to turn the dashlight brighness knob all the way clockwise until it passes the detent. Then the auto day/night mode should work.

yes, and if you dont want the night mode but still want less bright lights in the cabin, turn on yoru headlights and then go to display. A new button should be there to turn it back to day mode

What I did was turn the dial for the brightness counter clock-wise just past the "click". This seemed to fix it.

yes thats what were talking about. but sometimes at night, the lights inside can be a little bright, thats why there is the knob there.
