94LexusES Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 My check engine light is on, blah blah, got the code for excessive flow. just recently replaced my egr valve and valve cover gaskets. mechanic says it could be the EGR temp sensor? I haven't gotten around to going back, but how much is this? I've never heard of it.
m2pc Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 How much did it cost to have the valve covers replaced? My Rear on on a 98 is starting to leak. Front one looks fine...
mehullica Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Sounds like the VSV that controls the EGR is partially stuck open.
blake918 Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Sounds like the VSV that controls the EGR is partially stuck open. I agree. My ES was still throwing an excessive flow code after replacing the egr valve. It turns out that the VSV was not working. Make sure to check the VSV before you replace it (for something like $60 or $70, and it's a quick and easy replacement.).
