96LS400 Owner Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I can smell gas sometimes outside of the my 96 LS400 when I start it. What can cause this? Can a bad charcoal canister cause it? is this a common problem? The car has 54,000 miles on it. Thanks, Chris
AussiLS400 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I think its the cold start injector that might be the source of the petrol smell as mine seems to be the same on a 90 ls. Start up a new car and the smell is there and goes away after a few minutes running. The cold start injector pumps a extra amount of petrol in during the start up period and then reverts back to the normal injectors.
93LSOwner Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 93 LS 162,000 miles Mines does that do too sometimes at the first start-up of the day; especially when it has not been started in two days or so.
Salacak Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Mine is the same, I hate it but I guess nothing we can do.
