Pleasure Zone Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I have read that going with a larger diameter wheel should only be done to accomidate larger brakes as long as handling is the primary consideration. Is this true? Which size will give me the best handling? Thanks
steviej Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 (edited) some of your questions may be answered here: www.tirerack.com you can go to an 18 on the GS and not worry about the brakes. 18's will give you the best cornering but it is a tradeoff. as you go up for the stock 17s, the bumpyness or feel of the road surface will also increase. I ride 16 in the fall/winter and 18s in the spring/summer on my ES, same brakes. steviej Edited March 5, 2006 by steviej
Lexusfreak Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Isn't the 'stock' size of the 2006 GS 300 (RWD or AWD), 225 50 17?

Pleasure Zone Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 This is one of the wheels I'm considering. What do I need to know about the tire pressure monitoring system and if it will work with this wheel? The factory offset is 45mm and this one is 40mm but tirerack says if they list the wheel for my car it will work. Wheel is an OZ Superturismo GT. I was thinking about the Goodyear F1's in 245/40/18
steviej Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 do a search on tire pressure monitor a couple of months ago there was an extensive thread in the IS forum about it. steviej
