Hi,

It only happened in last 3days. My 91 Ls400 (160K) coolant reservoir was empty when I checked in the morning. I filled it up with Toyota red (to marks between cold and hot) and 2 days later it was empty again. No signs on gauges, no overheating on temp gauge, no leaks on ground, no leaks when I took off the undercover and looked underneath the engine. The car performs normally. I also checked the radiator, p/s fluid, oil etc... all ok.

Any clue?

Thanks

when you open the hood is the engine compartment wet or smell like coolant? if so then the meter on the top may be leaking. common problem, and really more of a PITA. hopefully so if not then check for the Blown Head Gasket.

It is going somewhere. If it is a headgasket leak, it could leak into the combustion chamber, or into the oil. I doubt it is a headgasket though. Have you noticed any fogging off the inside of the windows?

Hi,

Thanks for all your kind replies. Unfortunately, the answers are No's (there is no smell in engine compartment, no fogging). The reservoir is still emptying! For now, I got enough cooland to keep topping until the culprit is found.

don't worry it WILL show itself, just sometimes that hurts if you can't find it early on, really do what those guys said start the car and hang out by the tail pipes, if there is alot of moisture falling out of the pipes making a puddle let it run and run and if that puddle doesn't stop growing stop the motor get some of the moisture on your hands rub it together and if it's kinda slimy most likely it's some coolant, still unlikely, but IMO if that comes up negative i wouldn't worry about the problem unitl it rears it's head more
