Hi, I bought the car 2 years ago and so far have changed the oil and filters regularly. I have also replaced 3 tires. I am quite pleased with the car so far. Recently I noticed a clicking sound when I first start the car. Also there is high pitch squicking when I press the breaks while backing out from the driveway. My question is what all I need to get done. I cannot do car service myself. Should I go to lexus dealer (how much they will charge?). Please advice.

Thanks

You're probably going to be looking at $800 or so for that service from Lexus. If I were you I'd call around to a Toyota dealer or two and see what they'll charge you.

As for the clicking and the squealing, probably the squealing can be solved by resurfacing the rotors, you'll have to describe the clicking better for me though.

toyota dealres cant do lexus anymore, lexus changed all the part numbers:( i tried that recently, as to mashine (resurface) your rotors, you can do that in a regular shop, it is only 10$ per rotor, but this might not be enuff, there is a special unti sqeekin spring on the brake pad. it might be defective, or may be its time to get new pads:)

I serviced my Lexus at Toyota last week.

It all depends on the dealership.

A lot of dealerships dont want to do the service on the Lexuses, so they come up with BS reasoning.

the guy wanted to sell me stuff, but when i gave him lexus part # i saw it myself they were not in the toyota database

Thank you all for the comments. The clicking seems to be coming from the engine under the hood. My wife said it is a loose belt?. I will try toyota dealer tommorow.

I will appreciate any more comments and advice.

Thanks

Could be a belt.

The part #s are different, but they have, or in the very least can get the parts. If you want the oil filters and stuff at a good price, you can just get them from www.lexus-parts.com

i know the site, i just needed the part ASAP and i had to go to lexus dealer which i really dont like. i mean i like the free coffee and sandwiches and "complimentary" car wash, but charging for 1 hour labor 97$ is way over my capabilities
