Stubborn Lexus

Recommended Posts

Good Day All! Just purchased my 1992 Lexus 300 in close to mint condition fo only $3000 from a family friend (waaaay below Blue Book!). Love it! Two issues that I like help on...

--- How can I solve the headlights full on condensation problem, anyone know?

--- When the vehicle reaches running temperature and the engine is turned off, upon restart the car idles up fine and then puckers out. After starting and pucker out, starting and pucker out eventually it will maintain an idle and allowing me to drive off. I've tried all the tricks to get it to start up properly, a neutral start of foot on pedal to gain a 3-4000 rpm only to have it pucker out. Again, this only happens when the car warms up to running temperature. I've cleaned and changed the battery terminals, new battery and changed the O2 sensors --- No Love.

That's all! This is a sharp Lexus, well maintained everything inside is original the way I like it. If I can solve this start issue --- I've bought a get car.

Looking for any possible solutions.

Palmer,

As far as the Headlights is concerned..you might want to get some Clear Silicone Sealant..take out the headlights and go around the inside seams..with a thin coat of Silicone...

About your other problem..I might be wrong but it sure sounds like to me that you have a BAD Fuel Filter..or a week fuel pump..I would try changing the Fuel Filter first..I think waht is happening is once the car sets over nite..the old filter settles down and lets fuel through when you first start it up for the day..but as you drive the filter gets tighter and tighter as the gas goes thru finally cutting off the fuel..but complete cut-off doesn't happen while your driving..because your not driving a long enough distance at one time.

Check it out..Good Luck..I know this is frustrating..cheaper to check out the fuel filter first though..

Thanks for the cheap start on the starting issue. Questions for you --- are the head lights easy to remove? Upon removal will I be able to wipe off the condensation? Again thanks.
