dwmackay
I have an 98 LS400. About a month ago the radio stopped making any sound. All of the station setting works fine, the CD player works fine, but there is no sound at all. Even when I turn the volume all the way up there is nothing, no hum or anything. Does this sound like the amplifier or the head unit? I think it is the amp, but I am not even certian this stereo has a seperate amp. The Radio is the "Premium Sound System" model. Also, If I get an after market amp, I would like to get new front speakers. Are they 4" on this car? Thanks for any advice. Doug M.

TexasComputerMan
I am not sure that my info will help. I have a 1992 SC400. I know that many of the parts that SC400 have are shared with the LS400. If so, look at this: http://carstereohelp.com/repairDoItYoursel...usRepairVol.htm It shows a plug under the rear seat behind the drivers seat. That plug is for a telephone. It is there in the SC400 even if you do not have a phone. Any way, if the LS400 has that same plug, and it get's wet, it will mute all of your speakers. Everything looks like it is working, but no sound. Perhaps, this is only for the SC400, but drying and waterproofing that plug is a cheap fix.
