akewlguy Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Just had a car wash at some Dixie cleaners in upstate NY. The soft cloth had extremly high pressure wash. So a bit of my clear coat on the back is on the brink of coming off. Can one put fingernail paint or super glue to protect?
LexDiamond Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 i did that too tonight... at BP i think.. id like to know this if my keeps fallin off.. is not yet tho
RFeldes Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Go to the Detailing forum...Answer is....Strip it... Rip it.. Paint it!!!
SW03ES Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Is yours black or green? I ask because if its black it doesn't have a clearcoat and its probably just staining. This is one reason you shouldn't use carwashes... But if it is the clearcoat coming off having the whole panel redone is your only choice. The failure of the clearcoat will spread across the panel like a cancer...
akewlguy Posted February 20, 2006 Author Posted February 20, 2006 Its the black jade or green sparkles. It must have a clear coat since it is pealing. I am going to put some fingernail clear coat on it. The problem is when it is 10 degrees and your car is white from salt. One has to wash off the salt or else it may damage the LS.
